There are two versions of a Route Planner and Risk assessment form so that leaders have a choice and use the one they feel most comfortable with. Use as much of the form as you need in order to plan and lead your walk. As a minimum we ask our leaders to record the weather forecast, a general route description, total distance, total height, total time and to ensure that distance, height and time are within the guidelines for each grade of walk.
The Navigation Aids have been used during training sessions and you may find the chart for Calculating Time Estimates useful.

First Aid Forms
Leaders are asked to carry the First Aid forms (and a pencil) during any walk they are leading. In the event of an accident our advice for leaders is to carry out First Aid to the best of their ability, to check if there are others in the group who are more qualified or experienced and to report any accidents to the chairperson.Leaders are encouraged to consider attending First Aid courses or Rescue and Emergency Care (REC) courses that are organised by the club or by UFRC. They are also encouraged to carry a basic first aid pack. In the past, the club has encouraged the purchase of SAM splints which can be used in the event of a break to the leg or the arm. These were purchased over the internet from www.spservices.co.uk.
